TenPay Global and Mastercard sign MoU on mainland China QR payments and Weixin remittances

TenPay Global and Mastercard will explore QR acceptance for foreign wallets in mainland China and more remittances into Weixin through Mastercard Move.

TenPay Global, Tencent’s cross-border payment platform, signed a memorandum of understanding with Mastercard on November 2, 2026 at Hong Kong FinTech Week to explore letting international visitors pay at QR-enabled merchants in the Chinese mainland with their existing wallets and issuer apps. The two companies also plan to expand remittances into Weixin through Mastercard Move.

Why it matters: The agreement follows the MoU Tencent signed with Visa last week, so Weixin Pay now has exploratory agreements with both global card networks on inbound visitor payments and remittances. The companies said transactions by international digital wallets through Weixin Pay in the Chinese mainland grew 81.8% in number and 80.6% in value year on year from January to August 2026.
