UPI processed 25.47 billion transactions worth ₹31.53 lakh crore in India in October 2026, both monthly records, according to NPCI data released on November 1. Average daily value reached ₹1,01,707 crore, the first month above ₹1 lakh crore a day, while volume rose 23% and value 16% from October 2025.

Why it matters: Value grew more slowly than volume partly because Dhanteras and Diwali fell in November this year, according to The Hindu BusinessLine, so the main festival spending will land in the November figures. The record also comes just before the merchant discount rate on select UPI merchant payments, which NPCI postponed from October 15 until after Diwali, is due to apply.
