StraitsX, the Singapore issuer of the XSGD and XUSD stablecoins, said on October 26 that a partnership with Visa lets it support stablecoin-backed card programmes in more than 100 markets and extend its card issuing business beyond Asia. The programmes are aimed at fintechs, digital asset platforms and wallets whose customers want to spend stablecoin balances at Visa merchants, subject to regulatory, compliance and Visa requirements.

Why it matters: StraitsX reported a 40-fold rise in card gross transaction value and an 83-fold rise in cards issued between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the fourth quarter of 2025, and the Visa deal gives that business one issuing partner for markets outside Asia. Cardholders pay with ordinary Visa credentials while the stablecoin sits in the funding and settlement flow behind the card, so merchants accept the payment as they do any other Visa transaction.
